Sen Duckworth talks apprenticeships, training at Wiegel Tool Works

L to R: Ryan Wiegel, Erica Wiegel, Aaron Wiegel and Sen. Tammy Duckworth

WOOD DALE – US Senator Tammy Duckworth stopped by TMA member Wiegel Tool Works to discuss apprenticeships and training Monday.

Manufacturing is experiencing a renaissance of jobs and career opportunities – and US Senator Duckworth from Illinois wanted to learn more about how the federal government could help grow the industry.

Wiegel Tool Works is a third-generation family-owned manufacturer that offers high precision metal stamping. The owners Aaron Wiegel, Ryan Wiegel and Erica Wiegel introduced Senator Duckworth to their 3D modeling and tooling simulation, sensor and inspection technology, and fine German tooling techniques.

The senator took time to speak with Keith, a toolmaker apprentice that entered the field after serving the U.S. military.

Sen Duckworth told her 500k plus Twitter followers how much she enjoyed the visit, too.
