CHICAGO – Zach Mottl, Chief Alignment Officer of Lyons, Illinois’ Atlas Tool Works, was featured last week on Fox Business, applauding President Trump’s trade strategy on tariffs.
Atlas Tool Works is a family business downstream supplier that Mottl says is being boosted by Trump’s tariffs.
Smaller businesses like Mottl’s need big companies to bring their supply chains back to the U.S. from China.
“Would that make it worthwhile for American consumers to pay more for products?” the interviewer asked.
“Well, it will certainly be a better product and it should be made in the U.S. because its not that we’re not competitive, it’s that other countries are breaking the rules, breaking their promises and quite frankly cheating,” Mottl said, “And so the president, he’s taking a tough approach and I say: Thank you Mr. President for your ‘Enough is enough’ approach on trade. This is what we’ve needed. For 23 years we’ve seen other countries, we didn’t start a trade war, it’s been going on for a long time and we’re just finally engaging and trying to defend ourselves here.”
Mottl, who serves as Technology & Manufacturing Association’s Government Relations Committee chairman, expressed optimism that American companies and workers will ultimately benefit from Trump’s tariff strategy:
