Three Glynn County school counselors completed externships this summer at local manufacturing companies. The initiative aims to promote jobs in the industry and educate parents and students about career opportunities in the field.
Those counselors shared their experiences Tuesday at the school system’s first “Manufacturing Day,” hosted at College of Coastal Georgia.
Having those counselors in their midst changed both the counselors and the manufacturers perspectives of what each other had to offer, they each said at a recent forum.
Each one had the chance to see the company from multiple angles. They shadowed the human resources directors, worked on production lines, attended logistics meetings and did much more.
This provided the counselors with a more informed, firsthand understanding of the local manufacturing job opportunities they can share with students.
