Trump Signs Executive Order Expanding Apprenticeship Programs

WASHINGTON DC – In a White House ceremony, President Donald Trump signed an executive order June 16, 2017 to expand apprenticeships and prepare a new generation of skilled workers.

From Independent Journal Review –

President Donald Trump signed a new executive order Thursday in an effort to “expand apprenticeship and vocational training.” Trump said the new policy will help to restore the “dignity of work.”

During his speech, the president was flanked by governors from states who will be expanding apprenticeships as a result of the new policy, including Governors Eric Grietens (R-MO) and Scott Walker (R-Wis.), as well as CEOs, congressional lawmakers, and some of the apprentices themselves.

Trump said that it is the effort of the executive order to “keep jobs in America,” and continued his threats that companies that take jobs overseas will have “big prices to pay” when they try to sell their products in the United States.

Trump concluded his speech thanking those who have contributed to the new initiative saying, “everybody who has worked so hard on this program, and everyone in the room — including the reports — God bless you, and God bless America.”
